caspyr pairs you with a new rival every day. Walk the way you always do, your iPhone counts the steps, and the winner is announced at midnight.

How a day works

Every match is one day, midnight to midnight in your time zone. There’s nothing to log and nothing to start.

  1. Meet your rival

    At 11:45 PM every night, caspyr pairs you with a rival for the next day, close to your ELO rating and in the same time zone.

  2. Just walk

    Your steps come from Apple Health, counted automatically. No manual entry. Steps count once caspyr has them, so open the app before midnight to lock them in.

  3. Win at midnight

    Whoever has more steps when the day ends wins. Your ELO goes up with a win and down with a loss.

Climb the Ladder

Your rating decides your tier. Win to move up, all the way to Diamond, a rare tier kept for the very top.

The Ladder

The Ladder ranks the top 100 players in the country by ELO, and shows you where you stand.

Friends and friendly challenges

Add friends by username, see how their day is going, and chat. Challenge a friend to a friendly match: it takes the place of the next day’s match for both of you and never touches your ELO.

Who it’s for

Anyone who likes a little competition with their walk. At launch, caspyr is walking only, scored on steps.

Your steps, your call

caspyr reads only your step count from Apple Health, and only after you say yes. It never writes to Apple Health. Your steps are never sold and never used for ads.

Your rival for the day sees your steps, friends you add see your total so far today, and while you’re in the top 100, everyone sees your ELO and rank on the Ladder. To stop, turn off Steps for caspyr in the Health app or delete your account.
